About Me
Currently at ERAU-Prescott, Dr. Phil Chauveau is a specialist in digital media research and public speaking. His research centers around emotional experiences games can provide users, especially with regard to deeper emotions such as appreciation, awe, and nostalgia, and how these influence users' attitudes and behaviors. His previous investigations include tourism attitudes and behaviors based on video game locations; violent games, feelings of guilt, and attitudes toward a video game; co-operative gaming with AI and/or robot agents; and familiarity and its role in influencing enjoyment, among others.
Dr. Chauveau connects his research to his teaching by conducting courses in digital media storytelling, video game history, and video game theory. Further, as the Speech Program Coordinator for the Prescott campus, Dr. Chauveau is responsible for designing and upholding standards of oral communication for all faculty, as well as teach multiple sections of Speech every semester.

On a more personal note, Dr. Chauveau was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he spent most of his childhood enthralled by Mario Kart and FIFA (now EAFC). After a stint in professional sports management with the International Olympic Comittee, Dr. Chauveau decided to turn back to his original passion, and pursued his degrees in interactive media. When he’s not in his office working (which is rare), you can often find Dr. Chauveau outside playing soccer/basketball or inside playing video games, usually JRPGs.
